Just got back from a trip to Michigan and the Upper UP .....passed several Kingdom Halls along the way ,and wondered how many ex-jws I might be driving by that post here . Should of thought about that before I left and maybe we could have met .

Where Are You From?
by finallysomepride inalot of members don't have a flag or country name beside their user name, and well frequently one doesn't know where that particular person is from, tell us your country, state, county or what ever you feel like giving out.
if you are going to post please at least devulge your country.. me, i'm originally from taranaki, new zealand via auckland.

Then (1960) and now (2013)
by theron ware ini was raised as a jw from the age of 7. i was df'd for apostasy in 1971 at the age of 23. it has been 42 years since i have had contact with any jehovah's witnesses, including my family.
last year i moved to tucson.
when i read that a district assembly was coming to town, and that it would be at the convention center only minutes from my house, i decided to check it out.

Feeling very sick!
by msconcerned inwell as you all may or not know i am an m.s and trying to figure all these feeling out.
but i have a dilemma, i will be going on a shepherding call with an elder to "help" a family who is discouraged with the people in the hall.
i have to admit i feel the same way they do so how can i "encourage" them when i feel the same?

I remember one time we had a Sheparding call and we ended up being the encouraging factor . The poor Elder ended up coming alone because the MS didn't show that was suppose to be with him . This Elder was facing serious health issues ,cancer, and his only son was becoming 'rebellious' . He felt so down and disgusted with how others in the Hall were acting . We ended up giving him emotional support ....it felt good too ,just being open and honest and not following his pre determined outline .

Funny but kind of sad story
by troubled mind inmy youngest son (26yrs old) told me the other day that his barber told him a funny story .. it seems the barber use to be the janitor at the local grade school ,and one day he came into the office and noticed this little red headed boy sitting in there .
now the man said this was a busy day for the little kids ,holiday parties going on in the class rooms so he was curious as to why this little guy was just sitting in the office ...so the janitor asked the secretary what was up with that ?
.....then he said the little red headed kid speaks up loudly ,"i hate being a witness !!

My youngest son (26yrs old) told me the other day that his barber told him a funny story .

thankfully he is free now and not bitter .

They set one of these up in the parking lot of the Wal-mart in my town . Just like the Amish baked goods booth and the girl scout cookie girls .Next time I see them I will be asking the Wal-Mart manager if I can set up an Ex-Jw table

I'll will preface this with ,I personally do not believe in demons ....However recently my youngest son and his friends have started a paranormal investigation team ....I know ,I know .
Well they have gone to two different locations and done interviews ,EVP recordings and video . Something I can not explain is when they have done the white noise box (has another name I don't remember what they call it ) ,but twice when asking questions this box records a voice saying "Hey Look ' and then my son's name . My son's name is not very common . This last time there was a female voice saying his name ,and when i heard it I immediately felt like I knew who this voice belonged to ....someone who has passed . It made me very uneasy ....I have no explaination for it ,yet I still can not believe in demons .
If anyone wants to hear the recording I think i can find it and share .

My 8 year old daughter tells me she is an atheist...???
by sosoconfused inso since we have not been to a meeting in 6 months or so, i decided to ask my daughter (on the way home from cheerleading practice - yeah i can't believe i am letting her engage in such a worldly activity lol) if she misses going to the kingdom hall.
she says sometimes because she can't see her friend - but she has made new friends so it doesn't bother her too much.
so i ask her, "well, what about learning about jehovah?

You have NO reason to be mad at this child ..... You just are finding her critical thinking and truthfulness un-nerving for yourself . You are reaching a point that is out of your own comfort zone . Could it be that because your child can now think like this,that maybe it is time for YOU to look inside and examine your own beliefs ,and this makes you uncomfortable ,uneasy .
When my 20-something son told me he was now an atheist ,I know I cringed . I too felt maybe it was my fault that I had turned him away from God .But over time I just realized he has the freedom to decide for himself what to believe . We were brought up with not much of a choice ,at least I wasn't ....I loved Science ,but had to mentally juggle what I learned in class to what was being fed at the KH.
You're daughter is fortunate she will be able to examine all sides and make her own choice .
